About Us

Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) has targeted 20000 MW by the year 2022 which has been revised up to 100 GW by the Government of India. In addition to JNNSM; there are several states in India; which are implementing their own Solar Power Policies. Karnataka is one of the states in India which is implementing multi MW capacity projects in the state under the state policy of solar power generation. In order to give more comfort to project developers the Government of India is promoting the approach of Solar Parks; which will be developed in line with the SEZ for solar project developers. In the Solar Park the required land and essential infrastructure (connectivity, water and power evacuation etc.) will be provided by Government to the developers.

In the state of Karnataka the State Nodal Agency Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) is taking care of its Solar Power Policy and initiative towards developing Solar Parks in the state.

Karnataka Solar Power Development Corporation Limited (KSPDCL) was formed as a joint venture between SECI & KREDL in March-2015 and has taken the initiative in the Tumakuru district to develop the first Solar Park of the state with a capacity of 2000 MW. For this KSPDCL, a Solar Power Park Developer (SPPD)  selected the land in Nagalamadike Hobli, Pavagada Taluk, Tumakuru Dist, Karnataka State. The selected project location is in ‘Hot and Dry’ climatic zone of the country and hence experiences high solar irradiance (high DNI as well) and high ambient temperature. About 13000 acres of land in five Villages viz., Tirumani, Rayacherlu, Kyathaganacherlu, Balasamudra and Valluru of Nagalamadike Hobli of Pavagada Taluk has been taken on lease which is the uniqueness of the project.

As a SPPD, KSPDCL has provided 8 Nos. of 220/66/33kV internal pooling stations, roads, drainage, streetlights and other infrastructure works to Solar Power Developers selected through competitive bidding process by NTPC/SECI/KREDL for establishing Ground Mounted Grid connected Solar PV projects under Plug and Play model in Pavagada solar park.

KREDL also has established decentralized Solar PV projects totalling to 50MW(2x10MW +2x15MW) in Pavagada solar park on EPC basis. The total installed capacity in Pavagada Solar Park is 2050MW.

Entire capacity of the Pavagada solar park of 2050MW is put into commercial operation since December 2019.
